Therapy Where You Don’t Have to Do the Heavy Lifting
You shouldn't have to defend your relationship dynamic, translate your culture, or educate your therapist just to get quality care.
At Calming Tides Therapy, we combine advanced clinical expertise with genuine lived experience as LGBTQ+ and BIPOC practitioners. That means you get a collaborative space where your identity is honored as a core strength—allowing us to focus on deep attachment work, sex therapy, trauma recovery, and building a life where you thrive.
We are here to help if you are experiencing:
Exhaustion from masking and navigating daily minority stress or burnout.
Unspoken weight from religious trauma, family rejection, or societal shame.
Intimacy barriers, desire mismatches, performance pressure, or sexual anxiety.
Relational disconnection, attachment insecurity, or repetitive conflict cycles.
Whether your goal is reclaiming sexual pleasure, healing attachment wounds, restructuring your relationship, managing chronic health needs like HIV, or navigating recovery—we do the heavy lifting with you.
You have found your anchor here.
Beyond an Affirming Space: Actionable, Deep Work
Providing a safe and welcoming space is just the starting point. Here is how we turn depth work and insight into lasting, meaningful change:
In sex therapy, we address performance anxiety, desire mismatches, and sexual anxiety, desire mismatches, body shame— giving you concrete tools to reclaim pleasure and body connection.
In trauma work, we utilize somatic and attachment-based tools to soothe an overworked nervous system and process complex systemic, religious, and childhood trauma.
In relationship work, we help you map attachment patterns, establish clear relationship agreements (monogamous, polyamorous, open, and kink), and break deconstructive conflict loops.
In identity & recovery, we provide non-judgmental, harm reduction strategies for substance use and compulsive behaviors, helping you find alignment on your own terms.

Therapy is most effective when you feel genuinely understood, safe, and respected. This allows for us to see if our therapeutic and clinical approach aligns with what your unique needs.
-
When your therapist shares and understands your lived experience as as LGBTQ+, BIPOC, or marginalized individual, you don’t have to spend valuable session time explaining basic terminology, relationship structures, or cultural nuances. It allows us to dive straight into deeper, more impactful healing work.
-
Sex therapy is talk-based therapy focused on helping you build a healthy, pleasurable, and fulfilling relationship with your sexuality, body, and partner(s). We work together to unpack shame, address anxiety, explore desire dynamics, and navigate sexual health without judgment or expectation.
