Couples & Relationship Therapy
Affirming Care for Relationships, Partnerships & Polycules
In a world that often tries to tell us who to love and how to love them, choosing to build a relationship on your own terms is a radical act. Whether you are a monogamous couple, a party of two, a triad, or a vibrant polycule, your connection deserves a brave space where it is celebrated—never judged, pahtologized, or questioned.
At Calming Tides Therapy, we believe that every dynamic deserves car that honors your real lived experience, boundaries, and shared vision for connection. We provide a dedicated space for queer, trans, neurodivergent, and intersectional folks to work through the messy, beautiful parts of being together.
In-person in Orlando, FL & Telehealth across California, Florida, and Ontario.
“Because love doesn’t have a default setting.”

Who We Support
We provide specialized, trauma-informed relational therapy tailored to your exact structure, identities, and values. We work with couples, partners, and polycules navigating:
Polyamory & Ethical Non-Monogamy: Informed care for polyamorous dynamics, triads, open relationships, and polycules. We help with boundary-setting, "polynavigating," managing jealousy, and ensuring every partner’s needs are heard and honored.
Communication & Conflict Resolution: Interrupting destructive patterns—like criticism, defensiveness, contempt, and stonewalling—so you can discuss hard topics without spiraling into conflict or emotional distance.
Intimacy, Pleasure & Kink-Affirming Care: Addressing desire mismatches, intimacy shifts, and sexual communication in a celebratory, shame-free space—whether you are exploring kink, aligning intimacy with a gender transition, or healing past sexual trauma.
Betrayal Trauma & Infidelity Recovery: Rebuilding emotional safety after a breach of trust in monogamous or non-monogamous dynamics. We slow down the emotional firestorm to process grief, establish clear boundaries, and evaluate your path forward with dignity.
Attachment Patterns & Relational Traumas: Mapping how childhood survival strategies, abandonment wounds, and past trauma show up in your current partnership(s), helping you respond from security rather than defense.
"Rebuilding trust and connection isn’t about forgetting what happened—it’s about deciding if and how you want to construct a new foundation."
Our Approach: Clinical Frameworks for Modern Love
We integrate The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you resolve conflict and build connection—tailoring every approach to your unique partnership(s).
The Gottman Method (Adapted)
Building Dynamic "Love Maps": Deepening your understanding of each partner's inner world, evolving values, and emotional needs.
Managing Recurring Conflict: Learning to identify the "Four Horsemen" (criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling) and learning how to navigate hard conversations without pulling apart.
Sustaining Shared Meaning: Creating intentional rituals of connection, shared goals, and mutual appreciation that bring depth to your partnership(s).
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) & Attachment Work
Mapping Attachment Responses: Understanding how fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses trigger distance or anxiety in your relationships.
Restoring Co-Regulation: Shifting away from reactionary defenses so you can express vulnerability, ask for what you need directly, and cultivate lasting emotional safety together.
